Gloria/Madagascar Cupcake Cake

This is another cupcake cake with Gloria from Madagascar drawn on it. I love the bright colors! The customer chose Funfetti Cupcakes for this one.

Mom's Graduation Cake

This is a graduation hat cake for my Mom's graduation ceremony this weekend. She went back to school to Virginia College in Birmingham, AL and is finally graduating! She is an inspiration to follow your dreams, and to be successful. I am so proud of her. She has not seen this cake yet, and it is a surprise. So if you see her, DON'T TELL!! The cake inside is super fantastic too. It is Triple Chocolate Truffle Cake. Two chocolate cake layers, chocolate truffle filling, and chocolate ganache. Good Lordy, what could be better!

Shaina's Baby Shower/Baby Shower Petit Fours

This picture was taken before the food arrived.

Shaina had tons of gifts. This was taken before all of the guests arrived.

We had such a great time at Shaina's baby shower today! We chose not to do the traditional pastel baby shower theme, but a more modern

hot pink/black/white theme. We had about 15 friends and family there. We played games, talked, and had great food! I chose to do cupcake petit fours for the shower with hot pink and black daisies on top. Since it is Valentine's Day weekend, I was able to find hot pink cupcake liners! My mother-in-law, Peggy, made cute paper boxes and woven paper hearts to hold the mints and jordan almonds. Thanks to my friend Ashleigh for her help (get well soon!), Trisha, and Peggy as well.

Purple and Black Topsy Turvy Cake

This is a 3-tier topsy turvy cake iced with buttercream, with fondant decorations. It is white cake inside. Thanks, everyone, for continuing to check in on my blog. I have a lot more cakes to post; I still have to go to CVS and get them put on a disk from my phone. Hopefully I'll do that soon, I have at least 10 more to add. Thanks for all of your orders and support!

Mario and Luigi Cupcake Cake

Hooray! We finally got a new camera! This is a cupcake cake made with marble cupcakes and iced to look like a regular sheet cake. Mario and Luigi are hand-drawn. These cakes are fun and easy for a child's birthday party. Some call them "pull-apart cakes".

New Pics to Come!

***Hang in there! I'm having camera problems and have had to take pictures of cakes with my phone. When I get to CVS, I should have at least 5 new cakes to show. Two Topsy Turvy Cakes, a pink and black polka dot 2 tier cake, an order of baby shower cupcakes, and a cupcake cake with Mario drawn on it. Check back in a week or so to see new cakes!***

"Cake Wreck" and Topsy Turvy

There is a funny story with this cake order above. The customer's friend really likes a blog called "Cake Wreck". This blog shows all the mishaps of cake decorating from the time the order is placed, to the time the cake is delivered. The customer wanted to give her friend a bridal shower cake mimicking one of the cake wreck cakes. We also wanted to give it a "walmart tacky" look to it. The bride's name is actually Cari, but she often gets mail with her name spelled Carl so it fits into the cake wreck theme. Her cupcakes were marble, lemon and pumpkin spice flavors.

This is a fun cake for any girl. It is golden butter cake iced with buttercream and decorated with fondant.

Two Deer Cake

I would normally do this kind of cake with color flow, but since it was ordered the day before they needed it, there wasn't time for it to dry. So, I had to draw it out of buttercream instead. I still think it looks nice and is a great cake for any hunter!

In The Beginning...Roses, Roses, Roses!

These are some pictures of cakes that I did a while back. They are some of my very first cakes I did at home. Some good, some not so good! Lots and lots of roses in the beginning!

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake

"IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!!"

We look forward to a winning season with the Vols new head coach Lane Kiffin!

GO VOLS - BEAT UCLA!!

This is my new giant chocolate chip cookie cake! It is inspired by Great American Cookies cookie cakes. It is homemade chewy chocolate chip cookie with homemade rich buttercream and fudge icing. This is a 12x8 size which will serve 15-20 people. It can be decorated any way you like for birthdays, showers, ball games, parties, or for your own indulgence! You can go to http://www.greatamericancookies.com/ to see great designs for your cookie cakes!

Pink Fantasy Flowers

Decorated with gumpaste fantasy flowers and black piping, this elegant but fun cake is perfect for anyone's birthday. This one was for my sister-in-law Trisha. It is a pistacio-almond/chocolate fudge brownie icecream cake. The flowers and piping can be any color, and the icecream can be your favorite flavor. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRISHA!! Thanks Trey!!!!

Pink Roses

Pretty Pink Roses and a swirl border make this a great cake for a woman.

Chocolate Mousse Cake

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! Chocolate cake, Chocolate Mousse icing and filling, Chocolate Ganache on top, Chocolate curls and shavings on sides. That's all I've got to say about that!

Gift Box Cake

This is my first fondant bow. I think they are really nice on a cake and are great for a birthday if you don't know what to put on someone's cake. The cake can be any color or have any type of design to it. The bow can also be any color and have polka dots or stripes on it. This cake is covered in buttercream, but the cake can be covered in marshmallow fondant as well. If you want one of these bows on your cake, please call 4-5 days ahead because it takes that long for the bow to set up.

Topsy Turvy Cake

I've been wanting to make a topsy turvy cake for a long time. So I just made one for myself this weekend. It's a very interesting process and was a ton of fun to make. Usually the first time I do something new, it turns out to be a total disaster. But I had no trouble with this one. Even the fondant turned out nice on the cake. It's just the second time I've tried covering a cake with fondant and it worked out great. Also my first time making the wire topper. Finding the right kind of wire is difficult. But this worked well. My original idea for the decorations was pink and brown with flowers on the top tier and a bow. My chocolate fondant didn't work. It was too dry to use, so I changed the whole thing. I love pink and green just as much as pink and brown. The cake inside are new recipes too. A new version of strawberry that is absolutely fabulous, and a chocolate fudge brownie cake on the bottom tier. It is so moist and fudgy. My favorite chocolate cake now. I have two strawberry recipes now. The one I made for this one which is Extremely Strawberry and dark pink, and the Strawberry Delight which has real strawberries and cream cheese. Strawberry Delight is a delicate strawberry flavor, light pink, and the cake is so moist and creamy. It is really my favorite one, but Extremely Strawberry is good too. Well, I'm glad I know I can make one of these cakes now and look forward to the next one. Look at http://www.pinkcakebox.com/ for great designs for your topsy turvy cake order!

Chocolate Cake

Delicious chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream icing. I was practicing basket weave and rope borders for a grooms cake coming up in September. I've never really done basket weave before. It was surprisingly simple. I used a star tip because the basket weave tip I have is really small. I'll have to get a larger one and it will look even better. I am surprised that no one orders chocolate icing more often. It is soooo good! How can you not love chocolate cake with chocolate icing!

Check it out!

Ya'll must check out the Cakes by Judi website in the My Favorite Cake Websites list. She is from Mobile, Alabama and her cakes are beautiful! She has some great designs for all sorts of occasions. Definitely look at her website to help you get ideas for your next cake order!

First Marshmallow Fondant Cake

Good Lordy! Who put this UGLY cake on my blog ;) I wanted to make my mom a special birthday cake for her 50th birthday. I had no time to spend on this cake and that's not a good thing when it's the first time doing something. The fondant was too soft and I rolled it out too thin. I had no idea where to place the flowers either. Also my first fondant bow attempt. I'll try this again sometime. And to whoever put this awful cake on my blog...TAKE SOME CAKE DECORATING CLASSES!!!!

Marshmallow Fondant Cookies

I saw cookies like these on Layers of Love and thought I'd try them. They look really pretty, but I was terribly unhappy with the way they tasted. I am still searching for a great cut out sugar cookie recipe if anyone would like to share. The marshmallow fondant makes pretty decorations, but has a strange texture for cookies. Plus it takes a REALLY long time to decorate using the fondant. After a day or so the icing dries fairly hard and is more like a candy. When the marshmallow fondant is on a cake it stays more soft. As pretty as these are, I think I'll keep looking for a great cookie/icing recipe.
