Pregnant Belly Cake

I loved making this one.  It is covered in fondant and decorated with chocolate fondant.  It's great for your baby shower, or it could be done a little differently for a bachelor party!

Skateboard Cake

This was a fun cake to make.  The cake was carved to look like a skateboard, and the wheels were made from waffer cookies and donuts.  I airbrushed stars and it looks like the skateboard is upside down.  I think this cake was white inside with buttercream icing.

Blue Zebra Stripes Cake with Fondant Bow

This cake was for an 11-year old girl.  She wanted zebra stripes and blue.  I added the bow for the topper.  Had a slight accident with the bow and a piece of it broke off of the bottom, but not too bad.  The tiers are 9" and 6" and feeds 35.  The cake is white and has buttercream icing with fondant accents.

Bama Football Cake

Ok, had to make a Bama cake.  It was hard, but I managed to suffer through it.  It is a simpler version of the Vols football cake.  This football is a fondant plaque instead of a 3-D football made of rice krispie treats.  The tag is a cut-out helmet. The cake is yellow with buttercream icing.

Twilight Cake

So, I finally got a Twilight order.  The little girl loves Edward, she says he's "hot"!  So I found an edible image instead of trying to draw or put something inedible on it.  I didn't want to take away from the picture, so I just used some simple black piping to frame the picture and wrote on it with white and black buttercream.  The cake inside is chocolate.  Her mom found a great tablecloth and cups with all of the characters on them, so the cake matched perfectly at the party.

Teddy Bear Cake and Petit Fours

This cake was made for my friend's baby shower for her gift.  The bear was baked in a molded cake pan with fondant accents for his face, feet, and bib.  He is made from pound cake and is covered with buttercream piped with a grass tip for hair.  I used food markers to write the name and color the eyes.  Vanilla and chocolate petit fours were made to match.  She loved the bear so much she didn't let anyone eat it at the party!

Wedding Shower Wedding Cake

This is a wedding shower/wedding cake I made last weekend.  The couple were married, and then had a shower/reception later.  It was a cake chosen from the Wilton Tiered Cakes book.  It was altered slightly from the original design.  It was a 3 tier cake in the book, but we made it into a sheet cake with the tiered cake on the side to make it less formal.  The flowers are hand-made from royal icing, and the bells are made from sugar pressed into molds.  The cake was yellow with an orange crumb filling.

Deer Hunter Cake

My customer's son wanted a cake with him in a tree stand. So, here's a cake with a deer hunter sitting in a tree. I later figured out how to do the tree stand, but too late. I'll try it on the next one. He still got what he wanted and was happy. It is white cake with buttercream icing. The tree is chocolate buttercream, and the hunter, border and topper are out of fondant.

Stump Cake

This cake was for a lady's husband who owns a tree service. It was a cake pictured on the Publix website. It had toy chainsaws on it, but I could not find anything like that. Since this was a rushed order, I did not have time to make them out of fondant. The stump is made from a jumbo cupcake turned upside down. It is marble cake with fresh sliced strawberries and buttercream for the filling.

Woodworking Cake

So, August 4th is my husband's birthday and he is a fantastic woodworker. He makes everything from hand-turned pens, cutting boards, birdhouses, children's toys, and more. This cake is to celebrate his birthday as well as his great talent. In celebrating his talents, I short-cut mine! Normally I would have made the tools out of fondant and gum paste, but time did not allow this and the fantastic "Dollar Tree" was too hard to pass up! So I airbrushed the cake to look a little like wood and placed the tools on top. There is a planer, a saw, and a screw driver. Phillips head, not flat head, because flat head screws bring out the worst language in my husband! Happy Birthday Josh, I love you!

Finally....more cake pics!!!

I finally went to Walmart and got the pictures off of my phone on to a CD! It took all of 30 minutes to do, not sure what made me put it off. The next 11 posts are of those cakes in which some are over 2 years old!! Enjoy, and thanks for your patience!!

Butterflies and Flowers cake

Here's a sweet 2-tier cake decorated with fondant butterflies and flowers. I LOVE this cake. It's just so pretty for a little girl. The same idea can be applied for boys as well with dinosaurs, sports, trains, or cars and trucks for the theme.

Batman Cupcake Cake

Batman cupcake cake made with marble cupcakes.

Frog pond baby shower cake

This cake didn't quite turn out like I wanted it too. The colors weren't right, and I didn't like the frog. But a cute cake still.

Lime green and black topsy turvy cake

Well, it's not the best picture with my phone, but it was a really cute cake I made for a co-worker's teenage daughter.

Mario Cupcake Cake

So, it's sideways...but you get the idea.

English Rose Garden Wedding Cake

I made 945 individual roses, flowers, and petals for this 3-tier wedding cake this July. The cake was yellow with buttercream icing. The roses were made a few days in advance out of royal icing, and arranged on the cake later. I actually had Josh cut down the pillars after this picture was made, so the tiers weren't so far apart and wiggly. I loved making this cake, it has to be one of my favorites. My phone didn't do the colors justice, they were so much more vibrant than the picture shows.

Patriotic Corn Cob Cake

This cake won Grand Prize in Sewanee's 4th of July Cake Contest in 2008. I won 1st in Theme, Presentation, and Grand Prize overall.

Pretty Roses

A cake made for a departing co-worker. It was marble cake with buttercream icing.

Peanut Butter Cake

Yellow or white cake layers with rich peanut butter icing.

Coconut Cake

3 Layers of moist cake with rich coconut icing and coconut flakes.

Miami Hat

Yellow cake covered in buttercream, decorated with marshmallow fondant.

MY Baby Shower!!!!!!

Here are pictures of my shower from this weekend. It was done in light blue and brown. I love polka dots, so there were plenty. I made the cake, which was white cake with strawberry whipped filling (YUM!), and I made cake pops. There was also chunky chocolate chip cookies, Oreo balls, pecan cookie balls, fruit tray, veggie tray, spinach dip, hummus, pretzels, white chocolate covered pretzels, matching m&m's, cashews, chips and dip, and white cheddar popcorn. DELICIOUS!!! Thanks so much to Ashleigh, Linda, and Chelsea! My shower turned out better than I've ever imagined, and I am so grateful to have my friends, family, and now Clayton!

Summertime, and the icing keeps melting...

So, summer is here and so is 100 degree temps. The most important cake order I've ever had, and the weather took control. This was for a 50th wedding anniversary party given at the American Legion Hall this Saturday in Sewanee. I made 2 of the sheet cakes to go along side of a 3-tier wedding cake decorated to match, but as I said, 100 degrees and icing don't play well together. The cake was beautiful when we left the house, and less than 10 minutes later the icing was melting off of the cake! My heart sank as I pulled the cake out of the box and saw the icing sliding off of the cake. I just wanted to break down and cry because I felt so horrible about it. I am so thankful to Janice and Dina for being so understanding and nice about it. I wish I could have brought them a perfect cake. Hopefully the cake tasted good, that's the most imortant thing anyway. It was white cake with fresh strawberry filling and buttercream icing. I did not get a picture of it because we hurried to get it into the fridge. I hope to receive a picture of the whole party soon, and I hope everything else went well for them that day. Thanks again, Janice and Dina.

Showers of Happiness!

Here's a sweet wedding shower cake that says "showers of happiness". It has a gum paste umbrella on top which was supposed to have a bride and groom standing underneath, but we chose to put flowers instead. The bride picked it from the Wilton Tiered Cakes book. It is yellow cake with buttercream icing.

Candy Coated Pretzels

Vanilla Candy Coated Pretzels are great for any occasion. These were made for a baby shower with pink drizzle and pink ribbon. They can be done in any color, with sprinkles, or made with milk chocolate and sprinkled with nuts. They are $11.00 per dozen individually wrapped with ribbon, or $9.00 per dozen unwrapped.
